To remove one sandal from His calloused foot...

Thomas Aquinas, an ancient theologian from the 13th century, considered by some to be the world’s greatest, wrote volume after volume on Christ and theology. But toward the end of his life, he suddenly stopped...writing. His secretary complained that his work was unfinished. But Thomas replied,

“Brother Reginald, when I was at payer a few months ago, I experienced something of the reality of Jesus Christ. That day, I lost all appetite for writing. In fact, all I have ever written about Christ seems now to be to be like straw.”

Thomas Aquinas adored Christ so deeply, that thousands of hours of writing about Him now all seem like confetti, for He could not do justice to the greatness of Christ.

Fellow Christian, you will find it impossible to feel and taste the adoration that Jesus is worthy of, if your career, or your family, or your comfort, or your food, or your status, or your education controls your life and steals your devotion.

We are often too busy trying on the sandals of our personal interests to even stop and consider that to remove one sandal from Jesus’ desert calloused foot, would be a greater honor than to be king of every nation!
