All through the Old Testament people foreshadowing the coming of Christ suffered, but never ultimately. Abraham raised the knife to slay Isaac, but the knife never came down. Joseph got thrown in a jail, but he did not die there. David got rejected by his best friends, but not totally. Esther risked her life, but it was not taken.

But Jesus got the knife of God’s wrath, Jesus was left to die outside Jerusalem on a hill, Jesus was rejected by his close friend Judas Iscariot, and Jesus’ life was not spared.
