On my drive to work this morning I looked left and shooting up from the ground, flaming in multi hues, was a rainbow. It was as if God shouted in His gentle strength, "I am faithful. My faithfulness will sustain you. I will do far beyond what you could even ask or think." At once I was filled with joy and began to sing Great is Thy Faithfulness. It was a moment of incredible encouragement. 

I thought of the worldwide flood and how Apostle Peter likens it to God's judgment against our sin (1 Pet 3:18-21). Just as the ark saved Noah and his family from drowning in the flood so Christ has suffered the flood of God's wrath against our sin. The rainbow is a promise of God's faithfulness—a promise that you will never have to suffer the hellish consequences of your sin, because Jesus already did.
