Is Community Really That Important?

In his article, "Is Community Really That Important?" Pastor Mark Siddall who planted a church in Hollywood gives three prime reasons we Christians desperately need community:

1. Decision making. Many of our decisions should not be made on our own but in the context of a community of believers.

2. Evangelism. This keeps evangelism away from being "something I do when I have time for it" and makes it a lifestyle (missional living). He writes, "Many times the lost are often more attracted to the Christian community before they are attracted to the Christian message."

3. Discipleship. He notes that Jesus spent much of His time in groups versus just one on one. He writes, "It is highly probable that much of the habitual sin in our life is the result of a lack of community involvement with other believers."
