Some people fear to love because love makes one vulnerable. A stranger can't hurt you too badly with his words. But one harsh comment from someone you love dearly, like your wife or husband, can destroy your day. 

As people who all have someone we love (friend, spouse, child), so we understand that kind of pain. But picture God who loved His Son for all eternity, perfectly, completely, and more deeply than we could imagine—picture Him having to crush His own Son so that we could be forgiven. The pain, the misery, the ripping of relationship at He felt at the moment His Son cried out in despair, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" was the most earth-shaking sever that ever occurred.
