Deadlines say, "Time is important."

We neglected cleaning our van for four months. 4 months x 4 kids x crazy life = toy pieces, shriveled orange peels, and gooey things festered so long not even a scientist could tell you what it used to be.

Today I took my son Josiah with me to revolutionize the interior of our car with a public car vacuum. He dropped in four quarters and the timer gave us four minutes.

Knowing my time was limited, I worked fast. The deadline drove me to maximize every second. As organic and relational as we want leadership to be, there is an important time and place for deadlines. Deadlines  say, "Time is important." Deadlines limit time, thereby increasing its value, thereby moving us to use what little time we have with maximum effectiveness.
